I grew up viewing photographs of amazing locations from around the world taken by my father, who is a retired airplane pilot. The idea of having an outside perspective of a still moment and the imprint of memory is something that intrigues me. I am inspired by nature, architecture, science fiction and, like the images that influenced me growing up, the scenes I create invite the observer to act as an outsider looking in, and to break the boundries between “what has been seen and what is still to be seen”.
My deep fascination with balancing the natural and artificial lead me to create scenarios where opposite forces share the same setting. My objective is to capture the strange beauty of contrasts existing in landscapes by establishing a link between real and imaginary, time and space. By making collages, I can manipulate different textures and elements freely into a cohesive picture. In order to achieve the desired aesthetic, I separate by color cut-out pieces of magazines, select fragments that best represent my concept and, after experimenting, things are placed and glued together. This technique is flexible and I enjoy the infinite possibilities given to create imaginary worlds from a wide range of ordinary materials.
