About Elizabeth’s Work
Elizabeth Becker works primarily in watercolor, a ‘living’ medium, whose spontaneity and immediacy teaches her to let go, become present in the moment and embrace imperfections.
Emotional release and expressive experimentation are important to her process. Working olosely and viscerally, Elizabeth relinquishes control, allowing the paint to have a life of its own as colors bleed together and slowly bloom. Through evolving layers and abstractions, she
hopes to capture the elusive, transcendent essence of her subjects.
Inspired by the interplay between inner and outer realms of her subjects, Elizabeth’s paintings tend to blur the lines between representation and abstraction. She believes the use of abstraction gets us closer to the way things truly are, not just how they appear.
“I am delighted by Elizabeth Becker’s work. It displays a rare sense of beauty, the drama of the world, and man’s place in it.
