Maciel Cardeira born in Braga, Portugal in 1978, where he currently lives and works.
His academic career started in Lisbon at the National Society of Fine Arts where studied painting. He has also completed the ceramic course of the Artists Association D'arte and has a Masters in Art Education (ESE- Viana do Castelo).
His many public sculptures can be seen in northern Portugal and Spain. Maciel developed several projects in Land Art, found in Portugal, Spain, France, Luxembourg, England, Sweden, Brazil, Dubai, Maldives and Sardinia.
He participated in numerous individual and group exhibitions, won the 1999 Young D'arte Revelation Award, the Young Art Biennial Big Prize and the Serigraph Falé Acquisition Prize. Received the Atelier D'Art Award in 2006 and the Habitat for Humanity Association Photographic Award in 2002.
