Mark Dorf grew up in Louisville, KY in a family based in science and the arts. For the past few years, he has spent his time seeking out unfamiliar landscapes and environments to immerse himself within in order to continue his visual research. His most recent works focus on human interactions with our urban and natural environments through physical and digital means. Mark seeks to understand humanity as an observer in his surroundings, using digital media as a tool to explore the curious habitation of the world around us.
Mark currently resides in Brooklyn, New York where he creates his images and continues to explore contemporary art.
Footprints is a collection of images by Mark Dorf that simply explore the the basic visual footprint of our urban horizons. Through mapping out and removing the urban shapes seen in our cities across the globe, one is left with an abstracted and exaggerated form that draws direct attention to the structures that we pass every day and the contrasts that they create against our natural horizon.
