Opened in 1996, PDX CONTEMPORARY ART continues to be one of the Pearl District’s most forward-thinking commercial galleries. Representing artists both local and international, owner Jane Beebe strives to mix conceptual work with more personal offerings that are “both intellectually and visually satisfying.” The elegant space, designed by Brad Cloepfil of Allied Works Architecture, boasts monthly exhibitions of represented artists as well as the PDX Window Project, a more experimental space viewable from the street. Blue Sky

Founded as the Oregon Center for the Photographic Arts by a group of five young photographers in 1975, Blue Sky became an established venue for local photography. Over the course of four decades, the organization expanded its offerings to include national and international artists, many of whom exhibited at Blue Sky early in their careers. Blue Sky’s special endeavor continues to be the exhibition of emerging and established artists that exemplify the finest in photographic vision and innovation. As such, Blue Sky has earned the accolade as having “the best record of discovering new photographers of any artists’ space in the country.” Open: Tue - Sun, 12 am- 5 pm; First Thursday 6 - 9 pm.

 
 

Russo Lee Gallery

Russo Lee Gallery, led by Martha Lee, carries on a tradition of featuring the best artists of the Pacific Northwest region. Originally founded in 1986 by Laura Russo, the gallery has operated for over 30 years in the same space at 805 NW 21st Avenue in Portland. Russo Lee Gallery maintains its mission to represent regional artists and connect them with the local community through regular exhibitions and artists’ talks, and with a national and international audience through our website and regular communications about our exhibitions and artists. Froelick Gallery exhibits and represents contemporary artists with strong and independent voices. Many of our artists live in the Pacific Northwest, others live in the Gulf Coast, Brooklyn, and Tokyo. Their works include many media, encompass many genre, and their careers range from emerging to established. Our exhibitions change monthly with a public reception on the First Thursday evening of each month. The staff is experienced, knowledgeable and thorough with all aspects of art acquisition. The gallery's reputation rests on the strength of the artists, the integrity of its employees, and the comfortable, welcoming atmosphere. We opened our doors in October 1995, and in 2007 relocated to the DeSoto Building on NW Davis Street, which we helped to renovate.

Sidestreet Gallery

Sidestreet Gallery now in its 9th year is the creation of Reta Larson who, along with Lisa Leverton, have assembled a vast collection of almost anything imaginable. This seemingly small (from the outside) gallery winds through over 3000 square feet of the first floor. Reta Larson also co-founded and is still active in Pratt and Larson Tile, a Portland tile design and manufacturing company as well as being an artist in her own right. Lisa Leverton has been with Sidestreet from the beginning and is integral to its creation and operation. Lisa is an artist as well and shows her work in the gallery.Open: Wed - Sunday, 12 am - 5 pm.
