An anonymous artist and photographer has captured mundane objects in an entirely new way – making them very difficult to distinguish. Using a reverse lens macro technique, Pyanek has collated his extreme close-up shots in a series he calls ‘Amazing Worlds Within Our World’.

AMAZING WORLDS

About Pyanek's Work

David Portugheis is a composer & photographer based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His macro photography series (published under the pseudonym Pyanek) is an exploration of the alien-like worlds and textures in everyday objects and foods, invisible to the naked eye.

He's currently working on musical projects under a different name, to be released in 2022

Pyanek Live

I’m a self-taught composer & photographer, I teach English as a foreign language and have a photo booth business with my wife. Nowadays I’m not working on photography but would love to make another video similar to Amazing Worlds one day, yet with a different theme. I have plans for it already but don’t know when I’ll be able to start working on it. I’m 32, married, polyamorous, I love film, non-cheesy electronic music, and everything related to personal and collective emotional and intellectual growth. I’m currently finishing a deep-listening music album

from an interview WITH PyANEK

Q: What are you searching for in your art?

A: What I'm searching for in my work and what I'm hopefully expressing in my figures, is human nature. I love the kind of craziness in the deepness of the human soul. And being a clown myself, I always look for humor and lightness in my creations. What I'm also in love with is playing - playing with material, playing with the moving and the unmoved. So I work in sculptures and figures that can move to puppets on stage and the other way round. I'm interested in finding crossovers between diverse kinds of arts.

I often start working with a question about the material: Who are you? What do you want me to tell you? Sometimes the sculpture and I do not agree on this point. All of them are shy and need to be loved and protected by myself revealing their secrets.
