With more than twenty-five years of uninterrupted activities, in its own space, specially created for the operation of an exclusive place for an art gallery, occupies an area of 00sqm, on two floors, with walls that reach right foot of 6m50cm, alternating Natural and artificial lighting, all air-conditioned, and a large technical reserve for the collection, as well as a bookstore specializing in art books.

Founded in 1989, in Salvador, the Roberto Alban Art Gallery aims at fostering the Modern Art from Bahia and Brazil. In April 2013, the Gallery, directed by Cristina and Roberto Alban, opens its new space and with it its new proposal, fostering and promoting the production of Brazilian contemporary art. The new gallery’s headquarters with an area of 1500m², divided in three floors, was specially designed to host exhibitions of various artistic languages. The highlights are the 140m² main exhibition room with 8m headroom, a 100m² collection room and an outdoor terrace for large sculptures and installations.In this new moment, the Gallery works with renowned artists of the Brazilian contemporary art, such as Raul Mourão, Elizabeth Jobim, Luiz Hermano, Gabriela Machado, besides encouraging the promotion of contemporary artists from Bahia, like Willyams Martins and Vinícius S.A. Our goal is to promote these works to institutions, collectors, curators and the public in general, through solo and collective exhibitions, besides participating in the main art fairs.

Created in 1988, the Foundation is legally constituted as a private not-for-profit organization , with administrative and financial independence. From its very beginning and to this day, it functions in a house located on the Ladeira da Vila América, in the city of Salvador, Bahia, Pierre Verger’s home for many years.The Foundation’s Mission • To preserve, organize, research and disseminate the work of its founder, Pierre Verger. • To establish and maintain cultural, human and scientific exchanges between Brazil and Africa, especially between Bahia and the Bight of Benin • To serve as a center of information and research • To be socially useful in a practical way that is integrated into the local community
